Shopko Plans Another Shopko Express Store With Optical

GREEN BAY, Wis.—More than three years after launching its first three Shopko Express stores, discount chain Shopko plans to open two additional Shopko Express stores—one with an optical department—in mid-2008.

The two new Shopko Express locations will be in Appleton and Buchanan, Wis.; the Buchanan store will house a company-owned Shopko Eyecare Center.Shopko Express is a neighborhood drugstore concept that was launched by Shopko in January 2005, with three locations in Howard, Ledgeview and Port Washington, Wis. The Howard Shopko Express contains an optical department. Shopko currently operates 131 Eyecare Centers in its Shopko discount stores and the Shopko Express.

John Chartres CEO (SDS) ShopKo is the latest of our premiere clients and has completed the corporate wide implementation of the SDS suite of modules ahead of schedule and below the forecasted budget. The implementation is viewed as a complete success from both parties and should lead to significant improvements in the ShopKo optical division.

The store implementation included 134 store locations. The implementation eventually ramped up to converting 10 stores per week from the legacy Delta Marchon system to SDS.
